Most people think flipping a switch is enough.
It’s not.
Power doesn’t always stay where you think it is. Stored energy, faulty equipment, or someone else turning something back on can get you hurt—or worse.
Lockout/Tagout exists for one reason:
👉 To make sure that machine cannot come back to life while you’re working on it.
Skipping it might save you 2 minutes…
but it can cost you your hands—or your life.
What to watch for:
- Assuming power is off without checking
- Working on equipment without locking it out
- Someone else having access to controls
What to do:
- Always verify power is OFF
- Lock it out and tag it properly
- Keep control of your key
- Never trust a switch—test it
If it can move, start, or energize…
👉 Lock it out. Every time.
